Adam Clarke

My practice is research driven, examining the re-enchantment of nature as a process-led, ecological aesthetic. Rather than imposing any lasting human-centred form upon or within nature and the environment, representing or manipulating it, I investigate how one can work with and collaborate with nature’s self-regulating processes passively, and their inherent creative potential; often giving nature a voice - realised visually - revealing subtleties of an earth story in which nature, in all its facets, and ourselves are recognised as interdependent.

A playful romanticism often underpins the relational and performative dynamic of the art-making process as I excavate forms of storytelling that promote a connectedness with nature, and the environment that sustains us.

Current research concentrates upon the re-enchantment of the air, exploring its aesthetic and generative potential. At present I focus upon establishing more long-term relational research projects and kinetic sculptural works sited beyond the gallery context.
