'Following the Whispers in-between'

Our latest collaborative performance work looks at the notion of blank, untouched spaces and how to venture into these spaces and create a dialogue between ourselves and our chosen surroundings. In our most recent work this has led us to experiment with story telling structures and written poetry, which served as a bridge between the audience and us opening the space to direct shared experiences.

Inspired by the Morrab Library, the venue of 'Selected Bibliography', we have expanded our exploration of empty spaces by asking questions such as, 'what does it take to follow the whispers in-between the lines', to listen to the unspoken words spilling out from the bookshelves, to ask questions without using a common language and to enter into conversations silently.
What kind of connections can be built? Could they be as subtle as the space in-between the in and out breath which bridges this moment with the next and the next and the .... ?

From this growing catalogue of questions a number of poetic, at times spontaneous actions and interactions are woven into a performance piece. We will be playing with the humour embedded within misperceptions of passed-on information and the attempt of cataloguing blank spaces. The series of actions will be set in to motion at the opening, continued at a later stage during the exhibition, and concluded at the closing event in the library.
