Feathers Alarm Me
faux-innocent in gutters
latent on the backs of swans
unsafe as aeroplanes
no stewardess even
to point out exits
or serve complimentariesthey repel me with their
curvatures and lightness
an ergonomic breathiness
triggering panic
filling my dreams
with snowstorms
in small glass domesfeathers alarm me
the way they dripped wax
followed slowly
when my son
sank like a stone
with swirling Tchaikovsky
mocking my nightmares
of softness and dying.
